Marine and Shipboard Applications
| Central Fresh Water Cooler Titanium plates provide corrosion-resistant, trouble-free performance for the central fresh water system. The Accu-Therm design can easily accommodate flows from 5 to 16,000 gpm. The compact designs have the smallest hold-up volume of any heat exchanger and at the same time saves space and weight. See Figure A. Figure A |
| Demineralized Water/Glycol Loop for Cooling Electronic Gear The cooling loop for sensitive electronic systems can be easily and confidently maintained using the Accu-Therm. The titanium plate design will keep cost down due to its long life and the compact designs will save both space and weight. See Figure B. Figure B
|
| Heating Ship Service Water The Accu-Therm unit is an almost instantaneous water heater when coupled with the ship's steam supply. Hot water for galleys, showers, wash-down stations, etc. can be generated using up to 100 psig steam as the media. Heat transfer rates as high as 1800 btu/sq ft/°F result in an incredibly compact and lightweight exchanger. See Figure C. Figure C |
| Main Engine Jacket Water Cooling Using Seawater Using the abundant cooling source of seawater, it is possible to confidently provide a closed circuit cooling loop for both main engine and electrical generator systems. The use of titanium plate Accu-Therm units provides a dependable link between the jacket water and the seawater. The compact designs conserve valuable space and provide easy maintenance access to 100% of the heat exchange surface. See Figure D. Figure D |

Preheat Main Jacket Engine Water Working as a link between the shipboard steam supply and the engine, the Accu-Therm works as a near instantaneous heater for preheating the engines. The jacket water and all of its treatment chemicals remain isolated from the ship's steam system while the Accu-Therm heat exchanger transfers all of the steam energy into the jacket water. See Figure E . Figure E

| Steam System Heat Recovery Recovering energy from the returning condensate in the steam heating system saves water, chemicals, and fuel. The Accu-Therm plate heat exchanger will recover every available Btu from the condensate and put it into the next process. If the cooling side of the Accu-Therm is the desalination feed, you can boost throughput as the feed is preheated. The recovered energy can easily be tied into other heating system needs as well. See Figure F. Figure F |

Lube Oil Cooling The Accu-Therm plate heat exchanger is an effective connector between the lubricating oil system and the cooling seawater or the ship's fresh water loop. When the cooling is done with seawater, the use of titanium plates in the design allows for confidence in its corrosion resistance. When the oil system is cooled with the shipboard fresh water loop, then additional savings are achieved by using stainless steel plates. See Figure G. Figure G |
| Critical Temperature Controlled Environments Because of its low hold-up volume, the Accu-Therm heat exchanger is a near instantaneous heater/cooler unit capable of producing temperatures that can be controlled to within a fraction of a degree. The high efficiency heat transfer surface produces a very controlled performance through a wide range of flow rates. When accuracy and dependability are needed for environmental chambers, the Accu-Therm heat exchanger is perfect. Couple the Accu-Therm with either a hot water, steam, or cooling water loop and the performance is guaranteed. See Figure H. Figure H | |
